Beaches

The Dominical area has 70 km of pristine, tropical beaches.All are ringed by jungle-covered mountains and lined by coconut palms and beach almond trees - most are completely empty of people with easy access off the coastal highway.

Playa Dominical - Dominical Beach

In front of the house is a world famous surfing beach, purportedly having the best right break in Costa Rica. Wave heights can reach 16 - 20 ft. during Pacific storms.

The beaches of the Dominical area have a large tidal gradient. Beach width can range from 300 ft. at deep low tide to 25 ft. at high tide. Most beaches are swimable at low tide and in the secondary breaks as the tide rises. Flotation devices - such as surf boards, body boards and boogie boards - are recommended for some beaches at the higher tides.
