Nature
Unlike many other areas in Costa Rica, Dominical and the Osa region have large sections of virgin tropical rain forest with lots of animals. As the last region to be settled and populated, it has largely been spared the ecological devastation of clear-cutting.
National Geographic Magazine famously proclaimed that the Osa region contains 5% of the world's bio-diversity that means abundant animals in the area. And, nature in all its many splendors is omnipresent in Dominical and the southern Pacific coast.
We share the property of Sourfing Compound with animals like white face monkeys, toucans, sloth's, pizotes, iguanas, armadillos and a seemingly infinite variety of birds. It is their home and we are but visitors.
For the nature enthusiast, many specialized excursions are available out of Dominical. To the national parks of Corcovado, Cano Island, Marina Ballena or Manual Antonio. With guides to the mountain forests above Dominical, the coral reefs off Uvita or the mangroves of the Terraba river estuary. Whatever you would like to see, there are experts available to assist you.
